Happy Friday from Andover, Connecticut. Woke up to "feels like" 12 degrees. Wow, I don't know how people can stay here in the winter. I had to go grocery shopping today. It was the first time I truly appreciated wearing a mask. My mouth and nose were the only parts of my head that weren't frozen by the time I got into the store. And talk about foggy glasses !!!!!
Despite the weather, all is going well. Mom has good days and bad days. Her mornings are the hardest time for her. She is very confused when she wakes. Fortunately she has stopped getting up at 8 am. Her new waking time is closer to 10 am. Gives us some nice time in the morning to have coffee and check our phones. This morning she had packed an overnight bag because her father was coming to take her home. It is so difficult to witness.
Peter has been accomplishing so much around the house. The basement was in desperate need of cleaning out. We found a company to come and help get all the used appliances and junk out. He then cleaned it up, and made himself a great work area. He has more space than he had in Florida, but it is a bit chilly down there.
Sooo, today is now Tuesday, January 26. I have been so busy with organizing and cleaning that I never finished my blog. Peter has now finished all the upper cabinets in the kitchen. Took all the doors off, sanded them, painted them and painted the inside of each cabinet. I am slowly organizing each one.
Sunday we had our first Family Dinner in ages. Brother Will and his wife Sooz, Brother Steve, Peter, Sandy and Mom all had dinner together. We had a really good time and so did Mom. She tried arm wrestling with Will!!! It was such a good feeling to have her with family again!!
When we lived in Orlando, I always had time to grocery shop. Walmart was right around the corner. Well here the nearest grocery store is 6 miles away and Walmart is 11 miles, which isn't too bad a drive except when the weather is 9 degrees and the wind is blowing. It takes the whole trip to warm up the car! So we now are big fans of Instacart. Used them this morning as we are expecting a big snow fall today and I want to be sure to have food in the house.
If we do get the snow Peter will have an opportunity to so something he has never done before. He'll be able to learn the joy of using a snow blower!! There will be pictures to add to the blog!
It is now Wednesday morning, and yes we did get snow. I don't think there is enough to use the snow blower. The picture is looking out our kitchen window. For all Florida friends and family, I hope this picture makes you all jealous. None of that hot, muggy day after day heat, nope, not up here. Stay cool and hydrated !!!
