PHEW !!!!!!!
Sunday, April 11 morning was a really bad day for me. I have never felt like I did that morning and I was afraid of what was happening to me. I was totally overwhelmed with all that had happened, and what was still to be done. I just couldn't face it, which is not me. Peter hated going to work and leaving me home. I promised that I would go back to bed, have another cup of coffee and relax. My blood pressure was horribly high and I was afraid I would have a stroke. I called my daughter Erika, just to talk and calm down. I began to feel better during our conversation. Little did I know that Peter had called Paul, Erika's husband at the same time I was talking to Erika, to see if it would be possible for Erika to come up and give me some much needed support. After I hung up talking with Erika, I got a text from Erika, saying "I'll be there tomorrow". I have to admit I cried harder than I can ever remember. I have never needed someones support as much as I needed her at that time! Thank you Erika, and thank you Paul for stepping up and taking care of the three kids and your job while she was here. Its not that Peter hasn't been beside me every step of the way, but he too is exhausted from all the work he has done around here. It has been never ending.
It is amazing what we accomplished during this last week and a half. The attic is now empty!! My brother's room is empty, cleaned and painted. My mom's room is 75% cleaned out. The biggest barn is almost empty, the shed is empty, and small barn is a work in progress. One more week and all that will be done.
We have started working with Trailside Treasure LLC to do an estate sale. They have been wonderful to work with. We got a dumpster before they started working on the barn. They filled it in one day. I couldn't believe how they not only put all the stuff we could sell in one area, they took all the trash, and junk out to the dumpster. While we had them working in the barn, we had the 2 young men back helping us. The amount of cleaning out was amazing!!
We are scheduled to have the sale Fri, Sat, Sun, April 23, 24 & 25.
The sale of the house is not moving along quickly. As I mentioned in my last blog we have a bit of an issue in regard to a right of way my mother gave to someone. We are still trying to work that out, but the one person that could make the sale workable was on vacation for another week. We will be busy with the Estate sale so the time will fly.
As usual, I did not finish my blog and now it is Thursday April 15.
Erika was an incredible help!! She is heading back to St Augustine as I write this and my sister Pamela from St. Petersburg, FL is now on her way up to spend 5 days with me and help with the organization of all the stuff we have to sell!!!
Mom is doing pretty well. She recognized Erika when she visited. She even asked Erika if she had an older sister. Erika answered yes, Julie. My mother then said, "yes, she was always my favorite". Erika was just glad that Nonie recognized her as her granddaughter.
It is chilly and rainy today. And we may get SNOW tonight!!! It's 81 degrees in Orlando !!! I WANT TO GO HOME !!!!!
So once again, I didn't get this blog finished and now it is Friday, April 30. The Estate Sale was an incredible amount of work. The team from Trailside Treasures worked non stop for over 4 days before the sale. They did a wonderful job of emptying the barns and organizing the items in the house and barn for sale.
The first day, Friday, April 23, was a great turn out and sold a lot of stuff. Saturday's turnout was not very strong and we were all disappointed in the amount that was sold. Sunday it poured with rain. There were some brave soles that came to shop and later in the day as it started to dry out, more people showed up. I went to bed on Sunday evening thinking we would never be able to clean up all that was left out side and inside.
But, at 8 am on Monday morning, the crew arrived and started hauling all the left overs to their shop to sell on consignment. They worked all day making truck loads and car loads over and over again. We also had the dumpster that they had filled with junk while cleaning out the barns removed and an empty one put it place. On Tuesday again the team showed up and finished the job. It's hard to explain how hard they all worked. When they left we had a clean barn, all the lawns were cleaned up, and in some places raked and the inside of the house was now emptied. We would never have been able to put the house on the market without their help !!!
Friday, April 30, 2021. The house is going on the market today! We are proud of all that we did to get to this point, but it is also a very emotional day. My family has been in this house 63 years. We all have some great memors, but it is hard to know that soon it won't be ours anymore.
Mom had been doing fairly well at the Assisted Living Home. However she had a black out this past Friday morning during the first day of our Estate sale. I received a call from the home saying they were having her taken by ambulance to the hospital. She spent the weekend in the hospital as they ran tests, etc to see what caused the black out. She has been retaining fluids to a point that had become detrimental. She got back to the home on Monday morning. But each time she goes to the hospital it takes a lot out of her and she takes steps backwards.
Our Motor Home is now out of storage and in our back yard. The packing has begun. The charting the route is being worked on. Peter finishes work at the Windham Home Depot this Friday, May 8. If at all possible, we will try to be on the road by the 11th. We pray the trip back is safer, more pleasant, less expensive and enjoyable. We could use a little R & R, and camping usually helps us with that.
Next blog will hopefully be about us on the road again, heading SOUTH! We are looking forward to seeing our neighbors and friends, our children and our GRAND CHILDREN !!!
You both are so awesome. What an enormous undertaking you took on and you are both Rock Stars! I am thankful for the years I was able to call that beautiful place home. I will forever miss our growing up years and be thankful for how great our parents were and all the children that came and went and my fabulous sister and brothers.
