The Final day before the real adventure begins !
We woke up and immediately checked our phones and lap top. All 3 were dead. It was a terrible feeling. Started trying other outlets and found that the the bank of outlets on the night table wasn't even plugged in. The lap top was plugged in on the other side of the room, but the wall switch inside the door was never turned on. So we started charging the lap top, Peter's phone, but the charging cord for my phone wasn't working.
While we were charging up, we loaded the little we had taken into the motel back into the RV. Peter decided to start the car which has been towed behind us the whole way. And guess what, the battery was dead!! So if we need to unhook the car, we can't drive it anywhere ! Oh Lord have Mercy !! Once we had enough charge on the phone, we headed out to a Walmart to get a new charging cord for my phone, and a package of socks as our trip lasted longer than the number of socks we put into the camper!! Got the socks and charger. Then stopped for gas. And ONE MORE TIME went thru the toll booth in New Jersey!!!
We decided to take I 95 to Connecticut instead of traveling further north and taking a less traveled route. It's hard to believe that the roads in New Jersey and New York as so horrible. I was afraid the whole RV was going to fall apart. It was a wonderful feeling when we crossed into Connecticut. We stopped in Darian, Ct at a Service area, had a fabulous McDonald's breakfast for $19.85 😠😠😠
As we approached Manchester Ct, we googled a auto shop to get a new battery. Found one, replaced the battery and headed to Andover. We pulled into a commuter parking area where we met up with my brother Steve and his friend Scott. Scott brought his truck and helped us unload the RV. We had to get the RV to storage before 4:00. Thank God for Scott, we would never have been able to unload the RV, load and unload again at my Mom's house without his help. We were able to get the RV into storage before 3 pm. We returned to the house, had a big glass of wine, and gave a huge sigh.
The next step is introducing the dog to my mom and to the cat (Chelsea has never had a cat as a playmate before). All went well, mom loves the dog!! Chelsea tolerates the cat !! Mom knew that I was familiar, but couldn't quiet place me at first. No worries, that will improve the longer we are here. I would like to thank all of you who prayed for us along the way. There were many times we felt as if we had made a big mistake with this journey, but now that we are here and taking care of Mom it was all worth it. Total miles for this trip, Orlando, FL to Andover CT, 1,152. God was surely watching over us.
Amen.
God bless you! WHAT an adventure! I can only imagine the angst!
